However, prior knowledge of\u00a0OOP is not required to learn VB2010. On the other hand, if you have already learned Visual Basic 6, it will be a little easier for you to learn VB2010\u00a0 because the syntaxes are quite similar. The VB2010 Express Start Page consists of a few sections, namely:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The New Project\/Open Project section.<\/li>\n<li>The Recent Projects section that shows a list of projects that have been created by you recently.<\/li>\n<li>The Getting Started Pane- It provides some helpful tips to quickly develop your applications.<\/li>\n<li>The Latest News section- It provides latest online news about Visual Basic 2010 Express. It will announce new releases and updates<\/li>\n<li>The Properties section let you define the properties of each control<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"align:left\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vbtutor.net\/vb2010\/vb2010_Image\/vb2010_Startpage.gif\" alt=\"visual basic 2010 startpage\" width=\"892\" height=\"502\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Figure 1.2<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block; text-align: center;\" data-ad-layout=\"in-article\" data-ad-format=\"fluid\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3033628290023372\" data-ad-slot=\"1723562988\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p>To start creating your first application, you need to click on the New Project. After clicking on the New project,\u00a0 the following\u00a0 New Project dialog box will appear, as shown in Figure 1.3.<\/p>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vbtutor.net\/vb2010\/vb2010_Image\/vb2010_Newproj.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"819\" height=\"480\" \/><\/div>\n<p><strong>Figure 1.3<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The dialog box offers you five types of projects that you can create. As we are going to learn to create Windows Applications, we will select Windows Forms Application.<\/p>\n<p>At the bottom of this dialog box, you can change the default project name WindowsApplication1 to some other name you like, for example, myFirstProgram. After you have renamed the project, click OK to continue. The following IDE Windows will appear, as shown in Figure 1.4.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-12346\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vbtutor.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/vb2010_form.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"905\" height=\"540\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Figure 1.4 Visual Basic 2010 IDE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It consists of an empty form, the Toolbox tab, and the properties window. The layout is slightly different from vb2008 as the Toolbox is not shown until you click on the Toolbox tab.
